Band of Insiders:
Interpreting CIAM and Team 10 as Twentieth-Century History
by Joan Ockman

Over the course of the last quarter century, architectural historians have fleshed in the history of CIAM and Team 10, focusing in on the various protagonists, their internal debates and polemical positions, their successive meetings, and national and local episodes. My aim in this lecture is to take a step back and offer a bigger picture, viewing Team 10 and its progenitor organization against a larger backdrop of the history of modern architecture, institutional formations, and twentieth-century modernity at large.

Joan Ockman is distinguished senior lecturer at University of Pennsylvania School of Design and visiting professor at Cooper Union and Cornell University School of Architecture.
