Designing the Metropolitan scale:
Barcelonas's megastructural projects 1960-1976
by Paolo Sustersic

The unprecedented urban growth of the decades of 1960 and 1970 was an interesting testing field for proposing large scale projects which would have transformed the central city and its metropolitan area, based on a new megastructural approach and a brutalist architectural language.

Paolo Sustersic is full professor at ELISAVA – Barcelona School of Design and Engineering (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and invited assistant professor at Catalunya International University School of Architecture. In 2013 he presented his doctoral thesis “Domestic spaces in the information era: architectural design, images and life in a technological age” at Southampton University.
